As well as being visited each day of the week, visitors flock to the Village during Woolorama (March each year) and on Foundation Day (June) when our gates are open with free admission.

This annual recognition of the Founding of Western Australia is celebrated at ?The Village? with local stalls and produce markets, vintage cars, a pioneer recognition ceremony, a flag raising ceremony and the placing of a plaque on the unmarked grave of a pioneer. Vintage rural machinery, tractors and trucks are on display, along with an extensive working collection of stationary engines.

All buildings and displays are open to the public.

Billy tea and damper along with homemade soup is served and other delicious homemade fare is served by volunteers in the 1920 tearooms.

The relocation and restoration of the original 1911 Quarantine Ward from the Wagin Hospital was a mammoth effort by volunteers. This building is a wonderful feature at the Village and displays the history of Wagin?s medico?s and nurses from 1900. This building brings to 24 the number of original and replica buildings on display.

History comes alive at the Wagin Historical Village for school groups. The Glencoe School has visited annually for the last 4 years, St Mathews Katanning, St Patricks Narrogin, Narrogin Primary School, Lake King Primary, Gnowangerup Primary, Braeside Katanning, Wagin, Brookton and Darkan District High Schools and others have all experienced an excursion back in time over the last twelve months. Guided by our ? Village School Group? Co-ordinator, groups of students walk through the past, playing old fashioned games, touching objects, seeing how things work. 8 volunteers all of them ex school teachers assist with the school visits.

There is an Emergency and Evacuation Procedure that has been rehearsed, and a Duty of Care Policy in place for school group visits.

The Village Tearooms are managed by volunteers and are available to all groups. The menu includes Billy Tea & Damper, a pioneer lunch & a roast dinner.

Researching family history is an important facet of the historical village. A plaque was placed in June on an unmarked grave at the Wagin Cemetery after Village researchers found relatives in QLD and filled in family tree details. This is the second unmarked grave to be researched and detailed. A Heritage Trail through the Wagin Cemetery is being considered.
